Sustainable Tourism Awards

INTRODUCTION


Since 2017 – the United Nation’s “International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development” – the aim of the Sustainable Tourism Awards has been to highlight sustainable tourism projects and to give recognition to the outstanding results of the most innovative among them in the economic, environmental and social spheres of sustainable development.

Today a major event in the sector, the Awards were launched by the TourMaG.com Group (the TourMaG Travel Media Group) and ATD (Acteurs du Tourisme Durable). This year, the ATR association (Agir Pour un Tourisme Responsable) has joined the Sustainable Tourism Awards organisation committee.

There is more and more interest in the tourism sector for issues of sustainable development, while the number of committed participants is on the rise. The goal of these Awards is to give official recognition to the very best of them.

The spotlight is especially focused on innovative and transferrable projects with excellent results in the economic, social and environmental sectors.



The competition is divided into 3 main categories :



OPEN

An "OPEN" category for everyone working in the tourist sector and divided into
7 categories *


DESTINATION

A "Destination" category highlighting overseas projects.


FRENCH REGIONS

A “French Regions” category, highlighting projects in France.


* Transport - Travel - Accommodation - Leisure Activities - Regions - Information - Start-Ups

APPLICATION PROCEDURE


France and its continental and overseas regions are concerned in this category, first of all.

However, French firms with overseas subsidiaries that have launched projects outside France can also take part.

Each year a guest country and a French region, the Awards’ sponsor, can submit several applications focused on sustainable tourism.

One of them will then be awarded a Jury prize and a special award in their respective categories.

A Jury consisting of selected professionals (technicians, entrepreneurs, specialised journalists, etc.) will choose the most innovative and transferrable projects in line with economic, social and environmental criteria.

THE EVENING EVENT

After the Jury has examined the applications, an evening event is organised in Paris each year in December.

The event is a chance to give out prizes to all the chosen projects and to highlight their sustainable and environmentally friendly tourism approach.

The awards ceremony is covered by our media partners.

Each year, we contact all the major media outlets in France and forge strong partnerships.

Our partnerships with TV companies, the national and regional press and radios give the event a national scope.

The prize-winners and their projects are then featured in a film report made by the DrimPROD team, resulting in wide coverage for the projects on all our partners social networks.
